Hi Kwag,
I have a few questions about D2S (RC4) converting DVD to KVCDx3.
1) Will the same Matrix.ini and LBR.ini be used or will new ones be needed?
2) The bitrate tab has everything set for 1 CD. Should I change to 2 CD's?
3) I plan to customize DVD2SVCD.ini for avs script for x3. Is this OK?
4) Will the filesize prediction need to be tweaked (i.e. default is 0.999) to 0.95?
5) Have you tried x3 encoding using D2S (RC4) and what can you share?
Thankx

Hi black prince,
The KVCD Q. Matrix in the file "matrix.ini" is the same for all KVCD PLUS templates. Including the LBR and x3. However, the GOP is different on all other PLUS templates. For the LBR, it's 1,15,2,1,15 ( Latest changes are 1,18,2,1,18 for NTSC, so make that change ) and for all other PLUS templates it's 1,48,3,1,48 for NTSC ( PAL 1,50,3,1,50 )
So after you make the changes, just save as KVCDx3-Settings.ini
I've renamed my kvcd_lbr.ini to KVCDLBR-Settings.ini to use the same conventions as the .ini files supplied with DVD2SVCD ( VCD-Settings.ini, SVCD-Settings.ini ). So we'll have KVCDx2-Settings.ini, KVCDx3-Settings.ini, etc. Try to save your settings to similar file names, and leave the file "DVD2SVCD.ini" alone as default. You only have to load your .ini manually once, as the settings are retained when you exit and re-enter DVD2SVCD.
As for the factor, I'm using .95, and I made two encodes yesterday, and both fitted on a single .BIN/.CUE image withour overflow to a secondary .BIN/.CUE image.
I'll try the x3 today

Hi edmund,
Run DVD2SVCD and go to the "Matrix" tab. There, select the KVCD Preset matrix.
Next, go to the "Encoder" tab. Click on the "Advanced" arrow. Now you can input the values
From top to bottom, enter 1, 18, 2, 1, 18 for NTSC or 1, 15, 2, 1, 15 for PAL.
These values are for the KVCD LBR GOP. If you want to use any of the PLUS templates, enter 1, 48, 3, 1, 48 for NTSC or 1, 50, 3, 1, 50 for PAL.
Now you'll be making mpeg files with KVCD parameters.
The factor is also on the "Encoder" tab. Where it says "File prediction factor"

You have to be running the latest DVD2SVCD 1.1.0 Build 1 RC4. Get it here: http://dvd2svcd.doom9.org/d2s110B1RC4.zip

If tried the DVD2SVCD method with the KVCD_LBR specs on The Time Machine and it came out fine. But since I really like the results with the Plus templates, I figured I would try the Plus version on 2001 - A Space Odessey. I hoped this would work since DVD2SVCD supports the 352x480 resolution under CVD.
I changed the GOP as described above and selected CVD instead of KVCD to get the 352x480 resolution. I changed nothing else.
My results had 2 problems. 1, the picture is elongated and 2, I didn't get the whole movie. I wanted to fit it one 1 80min cdr, but maybe the movie is too long? After TMPGEnc was done processing, I only had about 95 min of movie.
Do I need to manually edit the avs file? If so, how do I get the parameters to add/change?
Thanks,
Andy

Hi Kwag,
I use the above GOP settings for PLUS 352x288 template 2CDs and encoded "The Godfather" 180mins. The quality is perfect!...,the only problem is that the 1st image is 900Mb and the 2nd only 815Mb ( i use 90min CDRs). I set also the "predection factor" to 0.95...

Hi VILLA21,
Use the file prediction formula. That way, you'll fit the movie exactly in both 90 minute CDs, and the quality will be maxed to that space.

U mean to reencode the movie manually?
How can i insert the file prediction formula to DVD2SVCD?, eg in the frameserver tab there are 2 ways to edit the avs script -edit when dvd2avi is done -Edit as part of the video encoding.
