SKVCD: Select 352x480 MPEG-2. Patch the KVCD matrix in DVD2SVCD with the KVCD BETA-1a matrix changes. Change the GOP to 1-24-2-1-24. You're done .
KVCDx3: Same as above, but you need a custom .avs script to be able to select 528x480, because that resolution is not available in DVD2SVCD.
You must check "Edit when DVD2AVI is done" under the "Frameserver" tab, and this way you can enter your .avs script.

Hi jorel,
Hopefully, it will hapen one day
Right now, we're still in high gear with too many "Daily" changes
I think we can start the "stabilization" process, as the quality we're getting now is second to none
But before that happens, I must revamp the main site, with a complete different system to make it easier to follow and make it more organized. That's my next move

And what about the Min and Max bitrate values on the BitRate tab for the SKVCD?

VILLA21,
if you edit the "skvcd-352x480-_ntsc_.mcf"
script in notepad you see:
MPEG.Video.CQ_MaxBitRate = 2500000
MPEG.Video.CQ_MinBitRate = 300000
just
min 300 and
max 2500

1-
do this:
download the skvcd template.
open the template in notepad.
read all about cq,high quality,min and max bitrate,etc.
change what you need in the encoder tab of dvd2svcd program.
but if you don't use dvd2svcd ,
open tmpgenc and "load" the skvcd template......very simple way.
2-
i don't try a 2 hours with skvcd in 1 cdr cos my player seems don't suport
this format.....i try to do and burn a sample this night and send a result,ok?
seems that Kwag do skvcd (more than 2 hours) in 1 cdr.
editing:
oops:
Kwag post "with me" again.

Change to CQ. It's better than CQ_VBR. Quote:

I haven't. But if I get ~2+ hours with KVCDx3 (528x480), with SKVCD (352x480) it will be far more that 2 hours

Thanks, Kwag!
One last question...
Setting the RateControl Mode to CQ i have to set CQ test values:
Offset CQ value=30 and use the file prediction factor?
or use fixed CQ?

You start with a CQ of say 50, or the suggested CQ from Predictor (if you're using KVCDPredictor). Then run prediction, and adjust CQ value as suggested by predictor on each run. Try a factor 1.0

Assume that i don"t use KVCDPredictor, only DVD2SVCD. What do u mean "run prediction", in DVD2SVCD program?

If you're using DVD2SVCD, then it's already using it's own file size prediction formula.

I'm so very VERY confused about this! Exactly what line should I be adding to my avs script if I want to be doing KVCDx3? And what about your older post where you had a kvcd_lbr.ini and matrix.ini file to download? Should I not be using these if I want the newer KVCDx3 templates? I managed to change the matrix and GOP settings but don't know how to do the resolution bit. I'm really new to avisynth and dvd2svcd!
What I'm trying to do is get the best copy of my Babylon 5 DVDs onto a CDR as possible. Each episode is only 43 min, so I figure putting it onto 1 80min CDR I should yield a perfect reproduction, right? Well I'm having some problems!!!!
Since my player (Sony DVP-NS315) doesn't support SVCDs, I tried dvd2svcd with default settings and then did the VCD Header Trick to get the file to play on my machine. But for some reason the movie was a little jerky at times, like ithad dropped frames (source is NTSC). And I noticed the image was not as sharp as the original DVD. That's why I'd like to get the KVCDx3 templates to work, since they have a higher resolution.
So if anyone has some suggestions for me I'm all ears! Thanks guys.

J-Wo,
i'm not an expert but try to help you.
the most important is:
read with atention please cos my english is poor
"Exactly what line should I be adding to my avs script if I want to be doing KVCDx3?"
dvd2svcd program create a "AviSynth_Script_file.avs" ,
in the folder where you encode your movie.
in the frameserver tab,tick "Edit as part of video encode"
than the program pause after encode the audio
and open the avisynth script,
you change the resolution,
click "ok" and the program run again.
"And what about your older post where you had a kvcd_lbr.ini and matrix.ini file to download?"
here:
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....0052ff18d51897
change the matrix settings,
intra.mtr
8 9 12 22 26 27 29 34
9 10 14 26 27 29 34 37
12 14 18 27 29 34 37 38
22 26 27 31 36 37 38 40
26 27 29 36 39 38 40 48
27 29 34 37 38 40 48 58
29 34 37 38 40 48 58 69
34 37 38 40 48 58 69 79
non-intra.mtr
16 18 20 22 24 26 28 30
18 20 22 24 26 28 30 32
20 22 24 26 28 30 32 34
22 24 26 30 32 32 34 36
24 26 28 32 34 34 36 38
26 28 30 32 34 36 38 40
28 30 32 34 36 38 42 42
30 32 34 36 38 40 42 44
and GOP: 1,24,2,1,24
if you want to use this script..... is very good:
copy and paste this to the final of your dvd2svcd.ini than save.
open the program and select :
LanczosResize, Fluxsmooth, Convolution3d, Legalclip
in the "avisynth setup" (frameserver tab)
[AVISYNTH_LanczosResize, Fluxsmooth, Convolution3d, Legalclip]
0=LoadPlugin(!FluxSmooth.dll)
1=LoadPlugin(!Convolution3D.dll)
2=LoadPlugin(!Legalclip.dll)
3=LanczosResize(^TargetWidth,^TargetHeight)
4=FluxSmooth()
5=Convolution3D(^c3d_)
6=Legalclip()
7=AddBorders(0,^BorderTop,0,^BorderBottom)
!FluxSmooth.dll=C:\....\FluxSmooth.dll
!Convolution3D.dll=C:\.....\Convolution3D.dll
!Legalclip.dll=C:\....\Legalclip.dll
^c3d_=preset="movieLQ"
ps:
select the folder where are the
FluxSmooth.dll,Convolution3D.dll and Legalclip.dll
in the script.
select cd size and time in the bitate tab.

What if I use KVCD matrix that comes with DVD2SVCD and change bit rate and GOP settings according to your templates. Can I still make 480X480 or 352X480 good quality S(K)VCD. I am guessing that if I choose KVCD matrix in DVD2SVCD thats the latest one, right..
Other question is that has anybody tried KVCD matrix and GOP with Cinema craft encoder.
Thanks,

Hi ss,
If you use the KVCD matrix that is included in DVD2SVCD, you'll be using our old matrix. DVD2SVCD has not updated to the new KVCD matrix. The new one is much better, specially on low lit scenes.
As for the use of CCE, you'll never get the same results as with TMPEG, because CCE restricts the size of GOP, and you can't use KVCD's GOP with CCE.
