1 hour, 49 minutes to go here on "Red Planet" using this script:

Code:
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\MPEG2DEC.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\fluxsmooth.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\blockbuster.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\encoding\legalclip.dll")
mpeg2source("K:\RED_PLANET\VIDEO_TS\red.d2v")
LegalClip()
BilinearResize(672,352,16,0,688,480)
FluxSmooth()
Blockbuster( method="noise", detail_min=1, detail_max=10, variance=.5, seed=1 ) # Apply noise if complexity is <= 10%.
AddBorders(16,64,16,64)
LegalClip()
Target is 704x480. Using CQ_VBR of 7.45 for this test. Predicted file size is 726,703KB for video. Current size: 461MB at 64% encode.

I'm pretty sure I will stay awake. I just have to see the result
If final result is on target, then the 50/48 is a hit, and I can go to sleep in peace

I would love to stay and see the results!
But it's 4:20am and it's the second time my wife gets in here... you could guess her temper...
So, I’m going to sleep.
Hope that tomorrow I'll read that you went to sleep in peace.

Ok, last post then it's bed .

1h55m to go on Untouchables, currently at 46% and 303mb. (100 / 46) * 303 = 658, 658 + 109 = 767, 767 * (2048 / 201 = 779mb. Predicted size: 803mb.

Looks like it's going to be off by about 20mb .

I'll let you know in the morning. Night all .

Not really. It's not linear. Hopefully it'll be on target in the morning

What - sleep? Just got up an hour ago..

So, what's the prediction script now? If I use

IL = Framecount / 50
SL = round(Framerate) * 2
SelectRangeEvery(IL, SL)

as SansGrip wrote, the sample is total 2507 frames, is this correct?

I decided that I'll try encoding Patton at 528x576 to see how it comes out. I'm sure it will look awesome, the source is very good. Thank God they put the extras on another disc

I'm sure you'll get your well-earned rest in a short while - let's hope the file size is on target!

This is what I love about this site. People are just too excited to go to bed early if there is anything that they still want to do. I'm just like that too but my wife doesn't like it so I get a sour face every now and then. Then I'll just show her a new KVCD movie and happy again

Edit: just started encoding the movie, CQ_VBR at 11,7. The predicted size for the sample was 14,66MB and the encoded one was 14,65. In a bit less than six hours we'll see if it's jackpot time

1h20m to go, 62% and 413mb done, extrapolates to 786mb final size up from 779mb a little while ago. Looks like you might be right .

Goodnight for real this time .

If you can find a wife that likes it, let me know ( Just kidding! )

Report: FINISHED Red Planet! Final size: 715,978KB. Estimated target size: 726,703KB.

And I CAN NOT BELIEVE MY EYES ON THIS ONE. Here's the complete predicted sample for "The Green Mile" predicted to fit on ONE CD-R with the new GOP that I started on my other machine! We'll see tomorrow if the final file size is as calculated.
Here it is: http://www.kvcd.net/test.m1v

I only used FluxSmooth() and LegalClip() on this one
Edit: That's what the COMPLETE 180 minute movie will look on ONE CD-R

Now I can sleep

Hi Kwag,
180 mins in ONE CD-R? Are we talking about 704x480 with GOP (1-12-2-1-24) with Flux and LegalClip filters?? What is the value of CQ_VBR?
