I (and a few others) am attempting to convert some old SVCD movies over to more compact KVCD format using all of the latest gadgets and gizmos. It appears straightforward for the most part:
1. Use DVD2AVI 1.76 to convert the AVISEQ*.dat/.mpg files into .d2v and .mpa files.
2. Process the .mpa files to reduce the bitrate from 224 to 128 (or whatever)
3. Create a .avs script to use with TMPGEnc.
The question now, in light of all the recent findings about GOP, switching back to CQ instead of CQ_VBR, and the world of SansGrip filters is "what should I use?"
Since they are SVCD, doing a bilinear resize to 352x480 is obvious. But should I be using Blockbuster/FluxSmooth/LegalClip? Should the settings be any different than the defaults currently being used for DVD to KVCD conversions?
Certainly I'll try some tests on my own, but if anyone has already done the legwork... thanks!
