My personal experience with cheap dvdr's (princo) has always been errors when burning to the edge of the media, using Verbatim media I have not had this problem.

@urban tec,

Verbatim DVD-R 4.7GB DataLifePlus with blue ring at center are the one's
that have been replaced by the manufactuer for defects. I bought a
5 pack of these and two became coaster when burned to their max
(4.38GB). Now with "MakeItEasy" and DVD2one I can decrease the
final VOBs size to 4GB and stay away from the edge. I don't know
about other DVD medium brands, but this works for me. I have Riteks
now and they are burning to the edge (or max capacity). If Princo
has an edge problem then maybe you could try the method I used
to see if the results are the same. I get great quality from Verbatim's
as long as I stay away from the edge.

@Kwag,

Could you be experiencing "Layer Breaks". Pauses while switching
to find the next position or your DVD player searches for a few seconds
to find its position, but starts at random frame. It may not be your media
but a bug in DVD2one that has a work-around using IfoEdit

Now that you mention it, I believe you have a strong point
I recall that I did a movie with DVDDecrypter as ISO read and burned as ISO write because it was less than 4.3GB, and I didn't have any problems there. Maybe it is a bug in DVD2ONE's IFO construction. I'm currently copying a VHS movie directly into my Panasonic DMR-E20 using one of the cheap DVD-Rs. If it records without errors, then it's not the media. I'll report that later

Finished my movie from VHS->DVD with the cheap media. The result is perfect . I just watched several parts of the movie, and there are no glitches at all. The problem HAS to be DVD2ONE

I had heard about these but the discs I have used were not part of that batch. I was able to burn the full 4.3 gb to them.

@Kwag,

Try this to remove "Layer Breaks":

IfoEdit (v0.95)

1) Open the VTS_01_0.IFO file created by DVD2one
2) Scroll through the "Movies Program Chain"
3) Look for the phrase "Layer Br."

If you find a Layer Break, Do the following.

-Go to "VOB Extra" button at bottom
-unchcek everything except "Correct Original IFO files" and
"Create New IFO files"
-Select a temporary folder to send these files
-Go
-Quit IfoEdit when finished
-Copy the new IFOs into the original folder overwriting the existing ones
-Open IfoEdit, Load the new VTS_01_0.IFO file
-Do "Get VTS sectors" button at bottom
-Exit IfoEdit

You can double check to see if the layer breaks have been removed.
Now you ready for ImpTool burn

Thanks black prince,

But there are no layer breaks on this particular movie I did , and the burned DVD-R jumps at different locations. I have another movie processed with DVD2ONE and that one does have a layer break. Weird

@Kwag,

There is a short list, so far, of movies giving DVD2one problems
with conversion. Matrix, for example, is creating problems even when
multi-angles is unchecked in DVD Decrypter. So far, I've only run
into media problems. The DVD2one forum there's a DVD-R media list and
other problems being compiled. Similar to KVCD there are quirks
with dvd-stand-alone players, dvd-r media brands, software
burners, bugs in DVD2one, etc. The majority of problems seems to
be dvd media and a small number of movies which don't convert
correctly.

Some movies have layer breaks, that's why the search for "Layer Br"
with IfoEdit. When they do have it the movie jumps and pauses
if not removed. DVD2one is suppose to remove it and needs to be
fixed in the next release. Just backed up "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"
and there were no layer breaks after DVD2one. Burned the movie
and it plays perfect.

I've succesfully tested the beta of 1.01 yesterday, so i think a release is comming very soon.

Erwin knows he can't stop it from being cracked, but that doesn't mean we have to spread it without protection!

You don't let your frontdoor open at night, so a burglar can have a easier way into your house now do you? I tought so

@All,

Here's a hint of the updates for DVD2one version 1.01

I never claimed the 1:1 will be in the new version. I told you it was on the topspot of our features list!

The soon to be released 1.01 is a bugfix release with only ONE new feature : User definable output size (2 user prefixes can be assigned with a desired endsize in Mb's)

Maybe the new language system makes it into 1.01, but i am not 100% sure about that at this moment (i have to ask Erwin about it)

But mostly it's small bugs here and there that are being fixed (the 4:3 menu issue etc)

The new feature of user defined output file size will now simplify
things and there's no longer a need for "MakeItEasy". The "Layer
Breaks" issue is a bug fix and there are smaller fixes. I hope user
defined bitrate adjustments to control picture quality will be in v1.02.
I believe DVD2one team is trying to keep transcoding fast and quality
on par with CCE. That would be a great achievement by itself. The 1:1
copy crowd will have to wait or switch to InstantCopy, but so far I
sticking with DVD2one

Me too
It just blows InstantCopy away in speed, and the quality difference is insignificant.
