i'm getting alot of errant "pops" in the audio of my final draft after multiplexing in BBMpeg. The pops aren't there when i watch the final .mpg on my computer, but when I burn and watch the final product in my player i get a pop during music and action scenes every few seconds. it doesn't happen very often when it's only dialogue. could there be a problem with how i'm encoding my audio?

here's my method:

I take my source .avi and extract with GoldWave to a 320Kbps .mp3 -> then I take the result of that and use Headac3he to encode to a 128Kbps .mp2 -> then off to encoding the video. Might I be missing something?

It seems your MAX bit rate is too high for your player. What DVD player do you have, and what MAX bit rate did you use for video

Ok, try encoding a small sample from the same movie you did, but lower the MAX bit rate to 2,000. See if it pops again on action scenes. If it doesn't, then you're going to have to experiment iincreasing in steps of ~100Kbps until you start hearing the clicks/pops again, and then lower your MAX to ~100Kbps below that. That will be the MAX bit rate your player can handle

If what Kwag suggested does not resolve it try raising the min bitrate to say 700.

This was what I had to do with my pioneer dv344 to play mpeg1, it is not an issue if I burn as svcd though, it may also not be the case with the panisonic just another option.

well, it looks like i'm going to have to raise my mininum rather than lower my max. i tried 2000 and 350 max and min, same result. then tried 2000 and 700 with good results, now to tune down on the mininum until i get the pops again...thanks alot guys!
