New beta of dvd2svcd available.
It now includes an option to add mpeg5.1 audio and the D1 half dvd resolution that the o.g. kvcd uses, 352x480/576.

DVD2SVCD 1.09 Build 7---BETA

quoted from Doom 9's web site...

- Enhancement: Added support for MPEG5.1 Audio using philips encoder. You must use I-Author as the CD-Image create program otherwise your SVCD will only have ordinary stereo sound

- Enhancement: Added support for the DVD Half Width size (also called XSVCD size) 352 * 480/576.

I emailed the author today, and he appeared willing to also add support for the XVCD resolution that the KVCDx2 template uses (704x480). Hopefully that will show up in the next beta, allowing either template to be used.

Turns out that you can make dvd2svcd support 704x480 right now... you just have to select 'Edit AVS as part of video encoding' on one of the tabs. Once the audio is converted, dvd2svcd will open up the avs file giving you a chance to edit it. Just change the resize command to 704x480, save it and hit OK. Convert away.
