Hi can Kwag or anybody else tell me exactly what does the YUV to RGB conversion in TMPG when using a YUV source?
Is it TMPG itself or is it the codec it uses to decode the source which does the conversion and what RGB format does it convert to. Is it RGB 24 or 32 ?

Hi ashyx..

FWIW.. doom9 had this discussion about a month ago or so, but I can't
remember what the final outcome was

If you don't get a final respose here, perhaps you might do a search over
at doom9 for the answer. I beleive it was under the TMPGenc forum.

EDIT: - - I believe Wilbert (a doom9 MOD there.. nice guy w/ good answers)
had given some good responses on that topic. So, you might want to include
his name in your search, so you can narrow down the results further

All I can say is that TMPGEnc internally works into RGB24. But I'm not sure who does the conversion.

Thanks guys I will head over to doom9 to check it out.

I have been using TMPG for a long time and know more or less everthing there is to know about it, but there are things about it's internal workings which you just cannot get info on such things as how it does it's RGB conversion, what sort of resizing it does ( bilinear, bicubic) E.T.C.

It's pointless trying to contact the author or any body at Pegasys to get this info as you don't usually get a response, (typical commercial software attitude, once they got your money they lose interest)

As far as I'm concerned anybody that is serious about the quality of their encoding then these are important factors to know.

Anyway thanks again and if you have any more info please let me know.

Regards.
