i now even tried TMPGEnc Plus-2.510.49.157 - same problem so i think the version isn't the problem. any ideas what could be the problem (my problem is that it encodes and encodes at prediction mode, normally it should always only encode a sample of 2minutes at prediction mode!?)

kwag what version of windows are you using?

XP Prof. But we've tested on XP home and Win98SE. Works fine on all.

SEEMS TO BE A BUG!? I'VE FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR MY PROBLEM!

i was using mpeg2 files, *.mpg - then i tried it with a demultiplexed file (*.m2v @ tmpgenc) - works fine, it encodes 3000 frames (exactly 2 minutes!!!).
(is this really a bug?)

but my next problem: i use calcumatic for getting avg. bitrate, but if i chose a [u]higher[/b] audio bitrate and click calculate again the avg. gets lower, shouldn't it get higher???

now im looking for an alternative tool where i can chose the m2v file (video only) and the mp2 file (audio only) and get the avg. bitrate from these 2 files, somebody knows a tool for that? or how can i manually get the avg. bitrate when having an mp2 & m2v file?

No. The higher the audio bitrate, the less space you leave for video, so average will be lower.

I think you've got it wrong
Average bitrate is for video streams. Audio streams (.mp2) MUST be encoded at a constant bitrate. Not variable
You just need the play time of your .m2v, to calculate your average for your new target.
Just open your .m2v with CalcuMatic, and it will tell you the play time.

well i did, but i thought avb. bitrate is for video & audio, thx 4 info!

but whats with the *.mpg problem? it really seems to be a bug!

Demux your .mpg with TMPEG tools, and remux both streams with BBMpeg. See if the error dissapears.

i've done so, demultiplexed with tmpgenc and multiplexed with bbmpeg - same problem.

seems like cqmatic has its problems with *.mpg files.
i think you should also try it once with an *.mpg (mpeg2) file!

by the way: the "source" mpeg2 file is 789MB, the "new" (demultiplexed and then multiplexed) file is 794MB, somebody know how to get it again to 789MB (in this case not needed but i'd like to know for other things)?

and: why isnt it possible to enter seconds at movie length (at cqmatic!)
wouldnt this be more precise/exact? (difference is small cause it cant be higher than 59s if doing right and so its sure not more than 6MB or sth. like that but why not? so you would come nearer to 800mb or am i wrong?)

CQMatic doesn't read MPEG files
TMPEG processes the files.
CQMatic doesn't know anything about any media files, so the problem is either with the source or with TMPEG.

Just round to the nearest integer. Ex: 10:15 = 10 or 10:35 = 11.
The real calculation is already done when you get your correct average bitrate (CalcuMatic, etc.), where you get exact minutes and seconds.

well, tmpgenc reads the mpeg files, but it seems like cqmatic cant get a source range over tmpgenc when using *.mpg or sth like that
=>cqmatic gets problems with mpeg files even if it isnt reading the mpeg files!? and so it isnt really compatible of mpeg files? (maybe not an error of cqmatic, but fact seems to be it isnt working with mpeg files!)
i tried various *.mpg (mpeg2) files and had the same problem with all of them...

if you also would try it, we would see if its only my problem or maybe the problem fo all? if its the problem of all, i think a note at the download would be useful!?

i can just say you i've the problem when i chose the *.mpg files at tmpgenc and even if i save my *.mpg file with dvd2avi as *.d2v project and than chose this one at mtpgenc!
