I've got a kvcd, but its been encoded to 312 x 480 and everything looks squashed.

Is there a way to stretch it back to widescreen size?

I'm new to this, so if I'm asking a stupid question could someone please still answer it?

Thanks a lot.

You must reencode it, and this time, take care of the size

could you please explain how to resize the kvcd or know of a guide to do this. I am in the same boat as the new guy. Got a nice kvcd and it's all smooshed.

thanks in advance.

You would re encode it exactly the way you did the first one. The smooshed one.
Open your file in TMPGenc, select a template with the size you want,
(not smooshed),
Delete anything in the audio line.
Name the new reencoded file and where you want to put it.

Let it encode. [Start]

After many hours you will have your re-encoded video file.

For the audio, do the same as you did before.
Rip wav file with Virtual dub.
Convert wav file with Headac3he to mp2

Join the mp2 and the m1v files back together in bbmpg or Tmpgenc>Mpeg tools>Simple Multiplex. (make sure you select non compliant)
Run

Burn the end result.

thanks for the advice. A slight snag. I loaded my file in and erased the audio line and loaded 3 different templates and let it encode for awhile, then stopped it to see what it looked like and it's still smooshed. I have no idea whats going on. I loaded the 352x240 template, the 528x540 (kvcdx3) mpeg-1 and 2.

thanks again.

Before to start the work you can see at the bottom of the tmpgenc main windows the resolution of the video you are going to encode (for instance "MPEG1 - 544 x 480".

What is indicated there ?
How do you determinate that the video is smooshed ? With a tool that read the header of the video or by looking at it in wmp ?

Note : you surely did a mistake but 528x540 isn't a valid resolution

Send a message via MSN to CheronAph
Did you encode it yourself or did you download it from somewhere?

I think that I may have been wasting your time. I was previewing the movin in media player and it looked "smooshed". After playing it in winDvd it looked quite good. Could the player have something to do with it? If so I am sorry for posting stupid questions.

thaks
