I have used the KDVD templates to convert a DivX to Mpeg2 (using full DVD res). My resultant file was an M2V (Mpeg2 with no sound). Before encoding I used Virtualdub to split the sound from my source to a .WAV (uncompressed - PCM - 48KHZ). I tried to multiplex the movie and sound afterwards with TPMGenc but I got an error. I then tried to change the PCM WAV to Ac3 (using Besweet) and sucessfully mutiplexed sound and the movie but the playback was very jerky and tended to freeze every few minutes (in powerdvd - Windows media player would crash).

Can anyone tell me what the procedure is for mutiplexing your sound back to your MPEG2 before burning to DVD? Also what whould my audio be? AC3/PCM/Mp3?

Thanks in advance.

It must be MP2.

And you can do the muwing with TMPGEnc but be careful to the muxing mode : select "SuperVCD" after you have load the source, not before.

Dialhot,

Thanks for the reply. I tried using Besweet to change the Wav file to Mp2. I ticked use MPA decoder/downconvert sample rate (to 48KHZ) and clicked defualt profile - DSPguru MP2 for DVD. Outputed my MP2 file. I then went to do a simple demux in TPMGenc select my video input but when I select my MP2 file I get a "illegal MPEG audiostream". I have selected superVCD (VBR) as suggested after loading my video. In fact I get this error no matter what type I load.

Any idea 's what I might be doing wrong?

I need the command that besweetGui send to besweet. You have a button "Copy command to clipboard" at the bottom of besweetGui.
Do everything as you did, copy the command line with the button and post it here please.

This command line can't be the line producing this log ! In the command line you ask for a stereo encoding at 192, and the log talk about joint-stereo at 128 kb/s !

This point appart, the command line above should produce a working file IF YOU HAVE A SOURCE AT 48Khz (and not 44.1 as in the log).

Same problem there ! And in the last log, the problem is also present

You should verify in the tab "2lame" that you have "stereo" selected as encoding mode, and 192 as bitate.
I also suggest you to select "mp2enc" as audio encoder (this setting is also in the "2lame" tab).

Again, this point appart, this command should produce a valid file (and this time you can see that the original 44.1 source is converted to 48 Khz, so it's perfect).

Note: personally a never use predefined profiles of besweet. Your problem can come from there.

Dialhot. Thanks for the reply. I tried using toolame to encode Wav to MP2 but I couldn't get it working. I found this readme for Wav to AC3 conversion. Finally this worked for me (authoring the DVD with TPMGenc DVD author.

Again thanks a million for your help. I'm sure I'll be back asking more questions.
