Hi there, I just wanted to say that I have managed to get 1hr 40mins on to a 80min CDR. What I did was to use a bitrate calculator (freeware) to find out the bitrate that would allow me to burn to the 80min CDR. I then used Kwag's 320x280(?) vcd PAL template and when I got to the bitrate settings I changed them to the new figures I had to TMPGenc Plus.

To do this allow you have to select is Constant Bitrate and then input the figure. When you get to the final page you can adjust the figure closer to 700mb if you so wish.

Sat back for an hour or so, and burnt the end file (80min CDRW Verbatim)with NeroExpress to VCD. I put the disc into my Cyber Home 512 (DVD player) and hey presto it worked and the quality was as good as a normal VCD when viewed.

I used an Intenso 80min CDR to keep the final copy.

So thanks again Kwag for your template, it rocks!!

hi there,

I too just got 160 minutes onto 1 80 min cd. I used the 352x240 plus template and the tmpgenc wizard and CBR mode. The movie is full screen and 29.97fps. It is watchable but the most noticeable result of the low bitrate is the "mirage" effect- not sure what this is called but it's like looking at something through the hot air of a toaster.

I will continue to use this method for movies or tv shows that I'm not too picky about the quality such as televised sporting events.

oh you said 1hr 40min- I misread that- I got 2hrs 40min on a cdr @550kbps CBR. I am very surprised at how good the quality is- real fast scenes are blocky but slow-medium scenes aren't bad.
