ok kwag, my girlfriends DVD player will not play VCD's at 352x480. i have a bunch of old 650mb disc that i want to use. my questions is which template should i use? since i have to put the resolution back to 325x240, which template will give me the best results? the file is an mpeg2, but i have to make it mpeg1, since it doesnt play SVCD. but it does play SVCD if i use the VCD headers trick. the file is 779mb in mpeg2 format. is there a way to fit 797mpeg2 on a 650mb disc? if not its ok, i'll just make it to a mpeg1 if i have to.

A 650MB CD will fit 740MB in Mode-2 for VCD's. 779Mb just won't fit.

bizzy.
depending on how long the credits are, you might be able to save that 40 megs by cutting them. and also, depending on what you encoded your audio at, you could encode it at 128 kbps and that will still produce good quality sound. If not and depending on which templates you are using, you can lower the CQ values and usually wont see a difference on a CRT Television.

Good Luck,

u could try and decrease the cq aswell when encoding see if that helps as well. do a test encode to test the quality level.
