Hi all! Can someone please help me out? The last month I have been tryin to do captures from my DV camcorder (or should I say transfers since you dont capture dv) with little luck. I have used Adobe Premiere, Ulead VideoStudio and DVIO. I kept getting the combing effect no matter what I tried, finally I tried direct capture to DVD ntsc and it was good with Sonic MyDVD, no lines that is. So I tried encoding my capture with the default tmpgenc dvd ntsc template and it worked. So I wanted to try and clean it up a little and use avisynth but when I load the captured file into Moviestacker it does not recognize the aspect ratio or the film pixels. So if I continue to save the script and call the avs into tmpgenc I get "unrecognized exceptions". I tried the optimal script posted for captures and had to comment everything out. So I try a script with no filters, just bilinear resize and I get an unrecognized exception pointing to a line with nothing there, line 7 (which is line after addborders), here is script:
#=============================================#
# -= AviSynth script by MovieStacker v2.0.0 (beta3) =- #
#=============================================#
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\MovieStacker\Filters\MPEG2Dec.dll")
AviSource("C:\Capture Folder\Capture 1\Dani Summer 03.avi")
BilinearResize(384, 446, -64, -63, 128, 126)
AddBorders(72, 17, 72, 17)
I thought it might be avisynth 2.08 so I uninstalled and put in 2.07 and still same problem.
So is it moviestacker or avisynth or the capture itself??
The capture I am working with is from DVIO type1 transfer.
Sorry if I put in wrong topic section but I figured it might be moviestacker since it is not reading aspect ratio of cature.

1/ Update to last avs2.5.3.
2/ I'm not sure about the DV type but one of them do not work. As you do in type 1, just try with type 2.

Every time I see people think combing is some kind of an error, I really get upset (j/k )
Take a look at this : http://www.100fps.com/
If you don't want any combing, capture at n x 240. No combing but a loss of details since you only capture one field instead of two.

Ok guys, here is what I found and tried. I found a post about using DirectShowSource to open the avi. I tried it and it worked. The only thing is that no matter what resizing method I tried, lancoz and bicubic, I get "divisible by zero errors", but all filters work. If I use gripfit it wont even open. What I will do when I get some time is re-transfer at type 2 cause I transfered at type 1.
Dialhot, I tried updating to 2.5.3 a few weeks ago and had to reinstall windows cause it got all messed up. Dont know what the hell hapened!
Boulder, I get the combing with anything under the DVD template. If I encode with the default DVD template I dont get the lines. I also took a look at the link you sent but haven't had enough time to sit and read, got a little one at two years old!!

Does anyone have any idea or clue, IF the latest and newest 2.5.4 avs version will work with Movie Stakcer 2.00 beta 3 version? It always displays warnings that it wont support it.

You gonna have to give me a break on this man.
FIRST...you say that Movie Stacker has to be "modified" to support the 2.5.4 avs version....if so HOW ???
SECOND...you say Movie Stacker is a "Dead Tool"
..so which is it suppose to be man ???
...can you suggest something other than Movie Stacker ???
...would appreciate it, thanks man

Hi ezysk,
How about swiftavs?
Don't get me wrong but you shouldn't be double and triple posting the same thing over and over.
Moviestacker is a tool that is waiting for it's programmer to work on it again.
The guy hasn't showed up for months and that you could have checked on the right place of the forum if you had read everything there.
That's why it doesn't work with avisynth 2.5x and that's why it has to be modified by the programmer Muaddib.
Cheers

I repeat differently : Moviestacker is programmed to produce avs2.0x scripts. In order to produce scripts for avs2.5 the programm must be reprogrammed !
Quote:
This can be done only BY THE AUTHOR OF THE SOFTWARE !!!

Yes it is : that means that the author of the tool vanished, and so IT WILL NEVER BE REPROGRAMMED TO USE AVS 2.5 !
Got it ?

I don't know why you getting that in trouble with an avisynth resizing GUI.
Two Choices:
a) If you still are in love with that Moviestacker, go into its settings and switch the warning message "OFF", thats all. But anyway you can use the resizing options incl. Gripfit but NOT the adding Filters section!
b) Switch to the original of Moviestacker which is called FitCD

Sorry, you do misunderstand us, we don't flame moviestacker, we just want to give you an alternative and for calculating the right size FitCD is optimal.

Its all my fault, I panicked when this sucker stoped working. I think SwiftAVS should be able to handle any updated versions as well.In any event, I'll try to keep my head on, in any future postings.

@ ezysk
First of all I didn't charge you anything for using MovieStacker. I gave it to you freely. So please, stop complaining and calling me names if it's not been updated. Second, I said about a thousand times that I don't see MovieStacker as a "work", but as a hobby. I code it when I can, when I want and when I enjoy it.
Maybe you don't think so, or you don't know, but some times programming can be a pain. Maybe I'm just bored to start coding again or just delaying it indefinitely, people who coded tend to fall into those phases, especially when there is not even a spark of the original flame and enthusiasm for a specific project. And as I said, I did not get any money in the first place for doing such a labour.
@ Dialhot
I don't know if I got you right, but (not just in this thread) I feel like you are some how angry with MovieStacker. I really don't know why. Maybe it's just your way...
Anyway… MovieStacker is not dead and I did not vanish (you can call it a year vacation, but not "vanish" ), and MovieStacker WILL be reprogrammed to use AVS2.5. In fact, I've already done that. I didn't have time to implement every thing I wanted, but it's already using every filter and settings for AVS2.5 including the MA script. The "preview" and "compare" features are also working. I'm planning to implement "custom filters" so you can customize MovieStacker to use any filter you want, but it will take some time and maybe it would be better to release it now, without the "custom filters". Don't know yet...

@muaddib
Its great news to hear you have started work on MovieStacker again this is a great tool and very useful to me and many others.
It is much appreciated that you are working on it again seeing as it is a hobby and I know from personal experience how hobbies can take up valuable time that you dont always have.
I look forward to the next release of MS but only when you are good and ready to release it.
Good luck with the update buddy.

For sure no, I'm not I use it everyday (even afer the release of the new fitCD 1.13)
Take a look on all the thread about gripfit where I say : drop this plugin and start the real work : use Moviestacker
But it's (oh... it WAS ) a reality : Moviestacker is (was) dead and unfortunaly didn't have any other usage that computing the resizing.
The only upseting thing is all the people using avs2.0x just because Moviestacker doesn't do avs2.5

Yep... After AVS2.5 release MovieStacker was no good anymore.
That's exactly what motivates me to start coding again.
For quite some time I stopped making KVCDs and anything related to video conversion. Basically because the lack of free time to enjoy this great hobby. But when all things got a bit more stable around here, I started to encode again and felt the necessity to update MoviStacker.

Yes, but you can't blame MovieStacker for that...

Well, I need to tell you that I have some trouble understanding the full meaning of some posts written in english. If I don’t completely understand the meaning it’s worse with the intention.
Please, don’t pay attention to the other post. I was just in a bad day...
