well as usual I hit a snag, I get a msg that IFOedit was unable to open the file for reading and then ifoedit crashes.

Can you identify the file that IfoE refers to?
At what point did you get following my instructions?

sorry I shoud of said, I load the m2v file no probs audi op loads no probs subs load no probs as I go to mux it says cannot read <filename>.m2v file I click ok then ifoedit crashes

It seams your compy is cucu...
Can you watch ur movie with windows media player?
Can you hear ur movie with windows media player?
If so, just try to mux video and audio with IfoEdit.
If you succeed then it's a subs prob.
If you don't succeed than it's most probably a video problem
since ur not encoding the Audio at all. AC3 audio, right ?
Please try this else: Hey Phil, what would you do? Try to mux video and audio on BBMpeg just in case?

I muxed the audio and video in bbmpeg just to see what the putcome is like as m2v files don't like to be played in powerdvd but had no probs when I muxed it.

I'll have a go at muxin with just audio and vid in ifoedit.

ah woo hoo I got it to mux with vid, audio and subs only problem is the subs colour is the wrong colour lol have to do a little edditin in ifo edit to get it right lol

Yes there is a problem with color on the subs.
You'll have to open your original movie on IfoEdit to check some values and then
paste them on your new KDVD with subs.
That I believe won't be much of a problem if you follow vmesquita guide on KDVD with selectable subs.

The exact procedure is :

- open the original VIDEO_TS.ifo (or whatever VTS_x.IFO related to the movie)
- open the section VTS_PGCITI then the first PGC (VTS_PGC_1)
- on "Subtitle Color" Menu, choose "Copy Colors From This PGC"

- open the VIDEO_TS.IFO of the movie that you just created.
- open the section VTS_PGCITI then the first PGC (VTS_PGC_1)
- on "Subtitle Color" Menu, choose "Paste Colors Into This PGC"

Do not forget to save the IFO !

yeah I actually done that on me own lol I read how to do that sometime last year so I changed opened ifo for new vobs and ifo for original vobs and copied and pasted and bobs ya uncle its all workin now WOO HOO!!!! just gotta get the two parts encoded so I can go to work and mux the subs to both parts.

now as for joinin both parts I found trhat if I load two movie files into one track in tmpgenc dvd author it saves it as one vob set with now pauses which is a bonus lol

okie dokie done both parts I loaded them into tmpgenc dvd author and when authored I lost me subtitles, is there a way to put the subs back into the vob files without losin the menu I created in tmpgenc dvd author?

I'd like to help but I really don't use tmpgdvd and I don't do any menus for my kdvd...
Maybe Phil, Incredible, Vmesquita or someone else knows what to do.

And for my part I didn't anwsered yesterday because I did KDVD with subtitles but they are still on my PC, waiting for the new media I ordered last week. So I haven't faced yet to the probleme of authoring them without loosing the subtitles

But I guess that the only solution is to use DVD-lab insteed of TMPGEnc

well I only said dvd author as its the only thing I have, is there a way to join pt1 and part 2 without losin subs?

oh yeah sorry, I had a go at that and all I managed to do was add the vob files directly with no subs, do you know of a good guide?

I think that if DVDlab loose alse the subtitles when importing the DVD, that is not a solutino either.

well I went an had a go at dvdshrink managed to do it but I have no chapters set anyone know what to do about chapters? I had a look on dvdrhelp but those progs are share/trialware and well I don't hae money to pay for any of them (damn it).

well I finally done it ah woo hoo

I saved the celltimes in ifoedit then when I authored a new DVD in ifoedit I added the chapter points in and muxed each part together so now I have it all done woo hoo and the quality is the business

But your problem was in making the VOBS with subtitles ???
I thought you had this since a long time !

I thought your problem was that you loose the subtitles when you made the menu

How did you do the menu so ?
