Hi there,
I have been using makeAVIS to produce fake avi files for some time.
But since I have, I've experienced a litlle problem with it.
I can produce prefect fake avi files and use these on my encoders.
The problem is when I click the avi file and leave it "focused" for a while WinXP throws a message like the one below:

And here is the information why it happened:

Has anybody experienced the same problem?
I have reinstalled WinXP SP1a some weeks ago and it still happens.
Cheers

My rds,

I think I understand your concirn for worry.

I too, have experienced this w/ other things, like when I'm developing my
GUI app in Delphi 6. I will get a strange message that pops up (similar to
yours - w98 version perhaps) and I worry.
.
.
It got me to think that somehow, there is a "adware" like feature to a .dll
or something. I don't know, but this is too coinsidental now. I'm wondering
if there is a hidden hook in all this excitement, that we are being violated
in some way. Only more research into this can we fiture this strangeness
out

I only get this kind of message when I'm in the Delphi deveopment mode.
If I leave my app running for a while, in the background, this thing will pop
up out of noware. Even though I have firewall and virus installed, you can't
help but to wonder.

I do hope that someone has a better exaplanation that I, cause this got me
bugged too

Cheers,
-vhelp

Well all I know is that under WinXP the "Error-Report message" will pop up with any software that crashes if you haven't turned that off yet. It's not limited to the ffvfw dll. The spyware is actually in WinXP itself.
Don't know about your error on Win98 though vhelp!

My point of view. Windows Explorer produces information about file (mainly file size) in popup box, when file is pointed for longer than 3 sec. While this file is fake (and I mean this, it realy looks like damaged), explorer might take it for bad/dammaged file and that why this error occures. But I don't know how to solve this problem. I'm runing 2k PS3, and I have no problem with that.

EDIT: wait I got something. Do you have enabled quick avi preveiw in explorer If yes try to switch this off.
