What the hell!!!
I'm wondering where this is going to end? Very good job teacher! Every day you get closer to the perfect backup!
By the way, i thought the resolution was called 3/4 DVD and not 1/3 DVD but maybe i'm wrong, please let me now. I will test your new templates as soon as possible, and see if they are played by my konka(not a toy) cause the KVCDx2 never played, but with CQ instead of CQ_VBR they played flawlessly, but the quality will never be the same.
Felicitaciones!! Now KVCDXtreme has nothing to do with other templates, i think this will be soon shutting detractors mouth! And will be the perfect choice for everyone, even the idiot ones, you know who i'm talking about.
Saludos!

Hi kwag,
just did a quick test with a 3 min Chapter of Blade and coverted it with the x3 MPEG1 PAL Template and burned as non standard VCD. My Daewoo DVG-6000D doesnīt seem to like that format.. The Picture is totally "blocked" and screwed up...
This DVD-Machine accepted all other KVCD Formats, guess itīs the X res of x3 Template...
So, Iīll do a MPEG2 Test with your new Template and edit the result in
here...
So, did the MPEG2 x3 Test and I must admit: NO WAY that the Dawoo likes it! The Pictureīs black with green stripes over TV Screen...
But here ist a Screenshot of the MPEG2 Result of KVCDx3 PAL (Judge for yourself):

HI Kwag,
similar to Easy123, I am getting half screen interwoven "chunks" of video with the x3 template (NTSC) on my Mintek 1600. Thusfar, I have been able to successfully use your 352x480 and 704x480 templates (though I prefer the 352x480 as it allows me to play movies in my Mintek 1710 portable, as well). Curious, are these video issues due to the GOP structure or more due to the 3/4DVD res? would the next best res to try (aiming for quality and disc space) be 480x480?
Appreciate your feedback.

@100571,
Encode a sample with the x3 MPEG-2.
See if you get the same results.

Kwag,
Sorry, if my post above isn't the easiest to read. Just wanted to add that I am unable to encode to SVCD, so when I inquired about 480x480 my intent is to encode and burn as VCD. Whatta you think?
Thanks.

All samples were burned via Nero SVCD Non-Compliant, this is what I use all the time even with the older templates, and it seems to work for everything.

I havent tried the mpeg1 version of kvcdx3 yet, but the mpeg2 version doesnt play on my apex 1500.. the screen is absolutley screwed up and im pretty convinced that its the resolution.
Kwag.. Should I try takin the rez down to 480x480 and use FitCd to make it think its a SVCD instead of a 3/4 DVD? Would that screw things up more?
Im pretty sure that the Apex machine have REALLY STRICT mpeg standards Id though it would work with this in mpeg2.. Hmmm...
tks

Well, here I am again... For my Part I found the Solution why my Daewoo doesnīt play the MPEG1 Template correctly. It was the X resolution.. I tok the 352x576 resolution and everything was played fine and the quality was very good...
So, I guess the Templates need a little tweaking to get it run on any DVD-Player...

Did you burn the MPEG-2 as SVCD or VCD?

kwag,
With this template file sizes have jumped, can't get "Art of War" on even 2 cds, it's going to require 3 for a 117 min movie. Got to admit the resolution is as good as the original dvd. Have you encoded a full movie yet?

"The Matrix" Audio 192Kbps ( Some end credits cut off ) ( 2 CD's )
"Kate & Leopold" Audio 128Kbps ( All end credits cut off ) ( 2 CD's )
Processed with the sample FitCD screenshot that I posted. With 2 overscan blocks.
The CQ_VBR value of 30 was chosen to provide maximum quality. Even on a HDTV. As you said, just like the original. You may lower the value to 20 ( No less! ), and still achieve excelent results on regular TV's, and extend the capacity per CD-R by more that 50%. Only on a HDTV you start to notice some artifacts by lowering this value.

I burned this Template as non compliant VCD with Nero (as it was the MPEG1 Template) and it work... Will do another test tomorrow...
Edit 29.08.02
I just did a test on 3/4 full (544x576) and it actually works on my Daewoo.. So I will do a full Movie during the next days...

You can't encode from DV with the template as it is. DV is 29.97fps Interlaced.
You must deinterlace, and encode at 29.97fps.

Bud, just to clarify...
Did you de/remuliples as SVCD then burn, or did you burn the mpeg1 file directly as non-standard SVCD?
Thanks.

I use the templates "As Is" and just burn as non-compliant. Here is the stepts I use
From my DVD-RAM:
Copy the VRO to my HD
Run DVD2AVI
Run through FitCD
Make Mods to the Script file
Run through TMPGEnc with KVCD te
mplaste (I only change the CQ at times to fit a 96 min movie on one CD in SVCD format) other that that no changes
Burn with Nero as non-compliant
With DVD Rip's
Smaretripper
DVD2AVI
TEMPGEnc w/KVCD templates
Burn with Nero non-complaint
The results I get for all the above I have no reason to use de/remuliples, most of my CD's I watch one tiem and pass along to my friends, I do not keep very many.
Aloha

Kwag,
I got your x3 template to work on my Mintek 1600 by using 480 x 480. I am now encoding "The New Guy" and will let you know how the final product looks when finished.
Thanks again for the great work!

Are you using FitCD and selecting 480x480 there?
How's the quality?
