Yes, I made that change last night
But if a user is not registered, they can't read the forum. Only "view" the topics

Hi Jorge,
Actually, there have been two valid new (paying) registered today, but I had to shut down the automatic registrations, because apparently, many new users "think" they could go by just by registering.
Now they are forced to go to the PayPal registration page.
Im curently doing some automation in the site, to make things easier, and in a while, I'll be redirecting every user that clicks on the "Register" button, over to the PayPal page on the portal.
That will make them read it, because there's no other way around it
So now I have to go back and clean up about 500 "phoney" registrations, because they never got an activation link. The way it works now is that we have to manually activate accounts.
This brings a new level of control to KVCD.Net

@ Karl
But the "dark" side of that pay-registrations is that many Knowledged users like peter cheat for example wont participate on "deep" topics based on their own tools
Or Scharfis_Brain (ok, he IS already registered) ... when I inivited him to clear up something about deinterlacing in that issue from Muaddib ... assume if he wouldnt have been already registered ... and he is a valuable "giving" character
... my two cents
Another question ... did you keep all already registered users still for free?
(sorry maybe I didnt catch that)

Hi Inc,
All actual users don't need to register
Only the new registrations since I turned on this new scheme.
So you and all current users don't have to worry.
Hell, your contributions in knowledge are already worth more than $2.49
Last night I deleted about 1,000 users from the database
These were ALL users with "zero" post count (leechers), so the forum is now much cleaner.
I also disabled (keeping their accounts and posts) our friends ssh, wilbert, r6d2 and similar users who came here mostly to leech and "bitch", so now they have to pay if they want to turn on their account again
I still have about another 300 users to delete, with zero post counts, dating back to 2002, 2003.
BTW, the total count of new registrations in less than 48 hours is now 12 users

hmm
Are you sure about wilbert and r6d2?
I never came across a bad post from them, at least that I can recall
But then again, maybe you did.
Cheers

Via PM, yes I did. Remember the "Sources Please" thread
Remember when people had to PM me to get the binary
Well, look at the kind of PM I got back then from wilbert:
"Ok, understood. In that case, I would like to receive MovieStacker 2.1.0 ( including it complete source) for personal use."
Yeah right
And from DDog:
""Trust me. It won't tear down". Trust me, it already has been and you just don't know it yet. How could anybody ever trust you again after this? You are already considered a pariah and I have a feeling you will start to feel the repercussions very soon. You have attempted to suborn the worldwide GPL license for your own needs."
Too many more worse than that, saved on my PMs, but you get the picure

I wouldn't delete Wilbert's and r6d2's registration either. Both of them behave in a very civilized manner and in my opinion don't bitch.
I don't see a problem with Wilbert's request.

His post was mostly a sarcastic request, just like most of r6d2's posts.

I didn't delete them, because that would show all their posts as "Guest".
I just deleted their password/E-Mail, so if they really want to share constructive information, they will have to go to PayPal, and then they can log in again.
Their accounts are still active, but they just can't log in.

I also have to say that I didnt see in r6d2 and wilbert any "deep" bad thoughts. There was once a problem when Wilbert overreacted by posting that shh Moviestacker issue at the kvcd.net main portal.
R6d2 behaved IMHO not that bad, and we also have to keep in mind that in here the "fight" is also kept alive! So why?
Im also Mod at forum.gleitz.info (german doom9) and there are NO bad words or whatever about kvcd. Shh and Wilbert are also active there.
These people maybe behaved not in a manner KVCD like it, but the things are calmed down now, IMHO.
Remember that Time when MVCD was painted black at the wall, many peoples do see now that the things totally changed (as the community now is without Mole himself! *lol ) ...
I did read many posts about that Moviestacker issue, but Wilbert and Shh maybe did have their clear thoughts but they never behaved that bad like that NEO-NEKO who relly pushed things up to the limit - that one really deserves to be kicked out!
I think its in our hands if already registered users will do keep going on with a bad behaviour - they would be kicked out - as in the past that also was passible.
I think the most importand point of view is:
Many many members of the KVCD community (including me) are also looking and learning things at doom9 ... and they also didn't kick out very present (or even mods) members at KVCD out of their community!
Resumeé: Lets stay above such things in the past - so we dont force the heat, thats a souveraign method and will give personal values for ourselfes - just a little "IMHO".
Which Community was it, who started thinking and practising that prediction 1pass method, which community was it, where the first mega deep testings and developings related to paramters for mencoder where done? It was KVCD .... and many people do know that, ... not only members from kvcd.

100% support from here. No need to stir things up now that they are settled.
I'm a respected member both here and at D9 and have never had any problems with people over there. In fact, as the GPL issue was very hot, Wilbert asked me via PM very politely whether we (the mods here) had discussed the issue. We didn't have this mod forum at that time so that wasn't possible.
