I'm assuming this has been mentioned before but after a couple of hours searching I can't find any similar posting. Creating VCDs with a standard TMPeg PAL template has caused me no problem but now that I'm trying it with the KVCD-CQ-352x576-_PAL_-PLUS template I find that the video is pushed so far to the bottom of my TV screen that it is not viewable. I've tried fiddling with various input settings for aspect ratio and also for video arrange method but am unable to find a suitable solution. Being a total newbie at KVCD I would appreciate any help.

Cheers

Hi Klink,

I would suggest you try first the LBR. This way, you can see if your DVD player supports variable bit rate on MPEG-1. If that plays correctly, and the 352x576 is off screen like you mention, maybe your DVD player doesn't like that resolution ( Half DVD or Half D-1 resolution ).
You might want to encode with the KVCD-CQ-352x576-_PAL_-PLUS template, but change it to MPEG-2 instead of MPEG-1, and see if it will play centered on the screen. Some Pioneer models behave like that. Also, try using FitCD and encoding with the script it makes, and installing AviSynth. You can download AviSynth here http://www.sf.net/projects/avisynth2 and FitCD here: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2142

Hi kwag

Thanks very much for the prompt reply. You lead me straight to the solution. It seems my DVD player doesn't like the 576 resolution. It works fine with the LBR template and also with KVCD-CQ-352x288-_PAL_-PLUS
So I assume as long as I keep it down to 288 I should be OK.

Cheers

Hi Klink,

Try 528x576 or 544x576 (KVCDx3). You might be surprised that it probably plays that too
Or maybe 704x576

Hi kwag,

At your suggestion I tried the various 576 resolutions but it seems my player ( a cheap Chinese copy of a Lennox called DL-108E ) doesn't like anything but 352X288 so I guess I'll have to live with that. Thanks for all your help.

Cheers
