Peço desculpas desde já pelo tamanho do post mas acho que preciso dar toda a informação possivel para o meu problema.
Usando o Diko 0.74, com o script dialhot que vem com ele, com uma ou mais fontes avi gerando KSVCD, não importa a resolução que eu peça ao Diko para usar, sempre tenho um filme widescreen como resultado final.
Onde eu poderia alterar isto.
Uso um movie0.srt.style para manter as legendas no tamanho certo e aqui vai ele:

Em Pal as legendas ficam enormes mas em NTSC ficam ok.
O que as resoluções PlayResX e PlayResy influenciam na forma do video ou funcionam só para a legenda?

Bem, não sou acostumado a usar o diko, mas dei uma olhada aqui no script que vc disse (que foi instalado junto aquino diko) e tem a linha:

Tente mudar o nome "widescreen" para "fullscreen"e deis salve o script. (se nao der certoretorne o valor para o inicial)
Nunca tentei isso, mas pode ser que dê certo. Em muitos casos a ente aprendeassim mesmo, metendo a cara pra ver no que dar.

Ou, porém, vc também pode tentar alterar um parametro em confgurações>>> na aba "video" >> em "material widscreen" mude para "cortar para fullscreen e codificar em 4:3".

Repito: nunca fiz esses testes, mas esses são os parametros que ao meuver têm a ver com o aspectratio e vale apena vc tentar pra ver se soluciona seu problema

Mudar isto com certeza não funciona, pois isto é uma variavel substituida em tempo de execução pelo Diko.

Tentei isto e ficou pior que a encomenda. O filme realmente ficou todo distorcido. Continuo tentando com as opções demonstradas no post inicial e só recebo widescreen no final.

Pode ter haver com a resolução da fonte e tal....
Mas tow por fora, não sou acostumado a converter avi....

O log deste filme q vc postou mostra q ele é widescreen (640x272). O que exatamente vc está querendo obter?

Desculpe minha "inguinorança" mas pensei que com algum filtro converteria em full screen, por exemplo. Não sei se é coincidencia, mas todos os filmes que eu encodei até agora ficaram widescreen. Tenho quase certeza que nem todos eram widescreen mas todos os resultados ficaram assim. Mesquita, poderia me mandar um sample avi que não fosse widescreen, para eu encodar e ver os resultados?

Me mande um PM com seu email que eu envio. A forma de converter um filme widescreen em fullscreen é cortar os lados, jogando as vezes metade da imagem fora. Veja:
