E-mail is no longer big enough for many of the large files people want to share, especially videos. And then long-existing services like Rapidshare and Megaupload have become a hassle to use.

Aside from having your own hosted webserver, here are some good options:

NOTE: This site allows members to upload some files for the purpose of examples or aid in asking questions (or giving answers). Free Members can upload video samples up to 8MB in size. Premium Members can upload video samples up to 16MB in size, to get one-on-one project feedback. Details on files supported by this forum are evolving, so ask questions if you want a certain file type added, or run into file size issues and need an increase (currently 15.999MB max for any file). Use multi-RAR for splitting larger files (but still under 100MB total), into 15.9MB chunks (16,777,200 bytes). For anything above 100MB, use a share service mentioned above.

Attention forum members: As policy, please note that Site Staff will not download from Rapidshare or Megaupload -- the failure rates, timeouts, countdown timers and overall slowness of their systems are ridiculous. It can take a dozen retries to initiate a download (at 30-90 seconds apiece!), and 1+ hours to complete a mere 100-200MB file download. That's insane. And not a good use of our time.

Thanks.
