I know that 10.9 can be found online, from unofficial sources, but I don't trust OS from non-official sources. At least not any that will be online.

I need to upgrade my system from 10.6 Snow Leopard, and that's probably the most ideal version based on extensive reading. But, of course, Apple removed it from their site, probably to force legacy users to buy new systems.

I want either an official disc, or official download, as acquired directly from Apple. Not something from your ex's brother, 3rd cousin, neighbor kid down the street, etc. Something you yourself can verify as having come directly from Apple.

I know we have Mac users here. Does anybody have what I need?

FYI: This was free from Apple.

Is the Mac App store offering any sort of OS upgrade for the machine in question? All machines with Snow Leopard that support newer OSes should get some sort of prompt.

After polling some offline friends for months, I eventually got a hit. He was able to grab both 10.10 Yosemite and 10.11 El Capitan for me. (Partially into planning the upgrade, it appears than 10.11 is my best choice, no 10.9 as originally sought.) The installs for OS X are not attached to machines or people, so it was merely a matter of finding a copy.

Upgrading is my task for the month. Not just OS, but SSD.

If you need anything older, I have the 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD image and the 10.7 Lion, and 10.8 Mountain Lion install apps also, all direct from Apple.
