Is Windows 8 Good for VirtualDub?

I'm going to be capturing 8mm/Hi-8 tapes. I have a MacBook Pro 2015 15 inch with a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 4770HQ, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB, and 500GB. My Mac can only natively support Windows 8 and Windows 10 via Bootcamp. For Windows 7, I would have to edit a bunch of files and fiddle with drivers just to get it to work. I've read on here that pretty much anything above Windows 7 isn't as good for capturing. Is this still true?

I also have a 2012-2013 Asus R500A-BB71-CB with Windows 7 Home Premium, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 3610QM, 8 GB DDR3, 500 GB Samsung 860 EVO SSD, and Intel HD Graphics 4000. I'd still prefer using my Mac though.

Windows Vista, Windows 8, and Windows 10 aren't great operating systems for analog video capture. Save yourself the trouble and use your Windows 7 laptop. Many forum members have Windows XP rigs that are used exclusively for capture. They then edit on more powerful PCs running Windows 7.
