Okay... I noticed when I was compiling dvd folders... I think it was converting my already dvd mpeg2 video files... Well, now on the tv, they look kinda blocky and not sharp in some areas... The video original video files were clear and not blocky... is there a setting I can change and fix? because I'm not happy at all, but I've already deleted my original files... so I'll have to learn for next time...

The MPEG2 files that you were bringing in, were they DVD compliant? If so, then DVD Workshop should not have had to re-encode them, but it may have done that. Check to see if there's an option in workshop to NOT re-encode compliant files. I know there is one in DVD MovieFactory (another Ulead product)

Are you sure they were compliant? I'm not so sure.

Not necessarily, no.
And TDA will often accept non-compliant files when it probably should not.

what are your capture settings?
resolution/canvas size etc.
Perhaps download "gspot" a program which will give you information about your mpeg-2. It'll give you an idea if they are compliant.

Even something as "minor" as the GOP or sequence headers can make it non-compliant.

in this case try something like mpeg-corrector. I think it re-writes the headers or something like that. Should be able to get it in the tools section of videohelp.
But like LS is hinting at it could be anything.

eh, some of my other records.. I looked at on a disk on the tv... instead of the computer, and they didn't please me either... I guess I'll have to stick to 1hr or 2hr... Oh well, weird this time they look better on the computer than on tv... its usually other way around. Thx

If these are from a DVD recorder in either DVD-Video or DVD+VR (not DVD-VR) modes, then it should be compliant. You must've done something odd. Sounds like your DVDWS2 install is bad, with all the other troubles you've had.

Could it be something simple like having the checkbox clicked for using Project properties on the video tab in DVDW2? If your project properties are set off, and you have that checked, it will encode the video that way.
