This is a Carlson-Strand CS250 P Linear Track Adapter, Record/Play, Input/Output.
Included are the CS250 P, A/C power adapter, Controls, and printed installation and Operating Instructions

See detailed discussion and photos in this thread:
https://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vcr...1970-60-a.html

This device connects to the Control/linear audio heads and allows the linear track to be read/written independent of the normal VCR audio outputs. It effectively provides 3 channels of audio output. A common use in the days of linear tape-to-tape editing was to record linear time code to the linear track allowing frame-accurate editing of the video and Hi-Fi audio and audio over dub.

This was designed for the Panasonic AG-1960 and also works with the AG-1970. It might be adaptable to other VCRs (especially Panasonic) but I have not attempted it. (I know the consumer Panasonic VCR I have uses different connectors although the pin count is the same)

The device has 4 modes: Off, Power on (green LED), Record mode (standby to insert, Green and Red LED), Power On Insert (Green, Red, Yellow lights)
It has RCA jacks for Audio Input and Audio Output
It has a 1/8" phone jack for the mode selection buttons (Record and Insert)
It has a power switch.
It has a GPI input that can be used to remotely toggle between Record and Insert mode.

When properly installed:
- Powered off the VCR audio output is unchanged, no audio output from the CS250 P
- Power on the the CS250 P outputs the linear track audio (the head is disconnected from the VCR's audio circuits)
- Power on in Record mode the CS250 P is standing by to insert its audio input to the tape linear track and it passes the audio thru to its output jack
- Power on in Insert mode its audio input is recorded to the linear track and passed thru to its output jack.

(Notes: When installing/manipulating the connectors care must be taken preserve tape path/head alignment. The power adapter center pin is negative, similar to theh BVP-4.))

I am asking $59 plus shipping (about 2 lbs in a 11" x 6" x 3" box).
Feel free to PM if you have questions.

No interest? Make an offer.
If no offers I will pull this in a week.
Maybe give ebay a try.
