Correct, what is listed is what's available.

However, you can always PM, let me know more about your project, and we can discuss what your needs are. Sometimes I do have items not (yet) listed, and those may (or may not) be a good fit for you..

I went this route since I was fortunate to not be in a rush. Highly recommend this to others who don't need the gear immediately. We discussed what workflow I wanted to optimize for, and he was able to procure essentially the best possible option I could have hoped for. It took a few months total. Remember: You get what you pay for. Paying for an expert's advice, direction, suggestions, etc, plus getting known-good hardware is the way to go.

No, it does not. No step adapters needed or wanted. Those add noise.

However, you will require a standard 220-240V compatible AC adapter with the proper plug shape. Since this came from me, what you have is a new branded (non-generic) adapter, 100-240V, and came with a europlug shape adapter.

Just a few TBCs left in the cupboard now, all on single shelf.

Proceeds from the TBC-1000 and TBC-100 will be used to pay for upgrading this site. The rare TBC-100 is from my personal stash, and the TBC-1000 was semi-donated for the specific purpose to help with funding. I had just finished these refurbs before my fracture.

Been meaning to ask for the details of this. If I remember correctly it's just a PCI(e?) card. And if that's the case, is it just getting power from the tower's PSU or does it actually run in an old OS and require software to operate? Curious how this compares to the performance of the excellent bv units.

4-pin molex powered.
The PCB has no contacts, and does not interact with the motherboard in any way. Thus no OS matters.
PCI, not PCIe.

And I'm interested. Does the Cypress CDM 1500, new, essentially green AVT-8710 clone without proc amp, $1500 do both NTSC and PAL? As the other one is PAL only.

And what does the "without proc amp" mean?

It has been about 15 years since my last conversion, so I'm a bit rusty.

Yes, it's correctly listed as a NTSC+PAL unit.

PAL and NTSC is actually a complex topic, when it comes to TBCs. Quite a few TBCs process both formats, but many actually only excel at one format. When that is the case, I refer to it as NTSC only, or PAL only. The "other format" can be anything from less ideal to entirely unacceptable. This varies not only by brand and model, but the production version of the model, and even individual units.

In PM, I also further discuss your projects with you, to verify you want the unit that will be serve your needs. So I'm your guide, your consultant, that also has the TBCs you need, for quality video capture success. I'm not just some random gear reseller.

Most TBCs do not have proc amps. And when proc amps are present, those generally are not powerful like dedicated proc amps. Most Cypress type units have proc amps, but this one does not. It's not a negative in any way. But since I compared it to the green AVT-8710, which does have proc amp, it needs to be stated that this unit does not.

I'm now down to my final TBC.

Get it while I got it.

I've not seen good TBCs in months now. All you come across is non-refurbished DataVideo TBC-1000s on eBay, and buyers are getting bitten by it. (The "sold" becomes a return. I wish eBay would show returns, too, as it'd give a much clearer picture of all the crap and bad sellers on that platform.)

My observation = smart people are hoarding gear, dumb people think they don't need TBCs (due to listening to Youtube know-nothings that teach you how to butcher your videotape conversions).

After 8 years, I may wind down my hardware refurb work, spend more time with family.

We shall see.

Hi,
I purchased a TBC from you, but have not had any update on the status of the order. This marketplace thread has not even updated it as sold.
Please could I have an update on my order, such as a tracking number.

Regards,
Andrew

Hello Beabea,

did you get any update since then?
I have the same issue. Started purchasing an acquisition card. Contact was very quick, with an answer to my PMs almost within 1h every day. Since I transfer the funds, total silence radio. Sent few PMs and an email without getting any answers. I have no idea if my purchase has been sent at all or if not when it will be sent. Do you know what's going on??

That person was PM'd tracking info weeks ago.

Your non-TBC item (ie, you're off-topic to this thread) was also sent at least a week ago. It's still in transit according to tracking, which you've now been PM'd. Not sending you the tracking info was oversight.

I'm not always able to immediately reply to all PMs, all emails, all forum posts, etc. I do eventually reply to everybody, or at least try. Remember, or maybe you're unaware, that I have multiple sclerosis (MS), and it tends to rob me of my energy and free time. So I have to choose between (a) actually doing hardware, (b) replying to PMs/emails about hardware I'm doing. I cannot do both, and it's not for lack of trying. Unfortunately, I'm not a bot, I'm not online 24/7. This human needs more rest than most.

Enjoy your gear.

@Beabea: thanks for the hints! You too.

@lordsmurf: thanks for sending me the tracking number and replying me. I did not know the detail of your health issues. Sorry to hear that. I understand fully you cannot reply everything within hours and days, and that you have to prioritize your workload. Behind on the other side of the screen, and having absolutely no reply at all no matter which private channel I used, "just" after sending money is kind of scary. In the end, problem solved and I am relieved. Thank you!

Perhaps one of these days you could post a YouTube tutorial teaching how to do it right?
