I recently used this workflow to convert some old VHS and S-VHS tapes to lossless digital.
  • The JVC SR-MV40 is one of their professional series S-VHS decks that I purchased from Lord Smurf, who cleaned and conditioned it impeccably (see pics). It does not include a remote, but the remote is not needed for operation.
  • The Panasonic ES15 DVD Recorder acts as an inline TBC for those who don't need/can't afford the full-featured models.
  • The Elgato USB Video Capture Device was recently purchased new on Amazon, and works with Windows and Mac.
I used this setup with Windows 10 running in Bootcamp mode on a 2017 iMac with VirtualDub and the Lagarith codec for lossless capture, and it worked beautifully!

I'm asking $500 + shipping for all three items. The VCR is heavy-duty, and I paid $44 to have it shipped to me, so I would estimate shipping in the neighborhood of $65.

For those on a budget looking for a workflow, I think you will be pleased with this setup.

Click on the links below for pictures of the items for sale.

Thanks ,
Mark
