Ah, you must be well versed in how online forums sometimes work.
About once a week, Site Staff has to remove bogus "hello, I'm new to this site" type posts that don't really ask anything. If you check back a few days later, they've added spam signatures. Sometimes the spammers are so stupid that they'll make the same post several times. Last week, I had to erase identical posts from "asda" and "asda1" -- bogus members from Pakistani IP addresses. Because of the security we have in place, bots don't generally get very far into the registration process, only people.
It's rather refreshing to have a genuine "hello" post for once.
