I bought the 1980 in-person in February or March via Marketplace and according to the seller the caps were replaced and it was serviced before I bought it. I just did my tape transfer work recently...

TBC-1000 s-video input fix?

The s-video input on the TBC-1000 I bought yields somewhat dark video. Everything else seems to work fine that I've tested, including using the composite input in combination with outputting s-video....
