Can you explain why you're applying the downscaling on the pillarboxed video, instead of on the 4:3 image? And also, what's the reason you have to downscale to 572 lines...

I've tried my idea of what the correct line order should be with Avisynth, combining the functions SeparateRows, Interleave & Weave, but it didn't work out. The pattern seems to be more complex......
