Does HS-HD2000U TBC apply to input/output or just VHS/S-VHS?

I'm wondering whether one would need a TBC if they used an HS-HD2000U to capture 8mm video tapes? I need to capture mostly 8mm and a couple VHS tapes (all non-commercial content).
