Why are my videos 720x536?

The bar at the bottom of Avisynth says 720x540 (4:3) but after dropping the file into VirtualDub2 and converting to mp4 my videos always end up 720x536. Not sure if it's slightly squashing or...

So when using VirtualDub2 to capture video from the JVC SR-MV45U, I've been capturing audio separately from a hi-fi 6-head VCR on Audacity. So that might be why I haven't noticed...

When the TBC has no audio input/output I think you just have to guess.

It also doesn't account for different tapes often sync'ing in their own special ways but I guess that's a different issue.
