can I use a 12v 2A ac adapter on my internal SATA dvd drive without any problems? I will use an external adapter to use the drive outside the PC but the drive label shows 5V / 12V 2A / 2.5A if the AC adapter is not a maximum power of 2.5A will this cause problems with reading and burning the DVD?
in adapter kits the power supply is 2A

SATA drives are 12V, and 2A is plenty --- or 1.25A, 1.5A, 3A, amps don't entirely matter, just needs to meet minimums. But I'd be wary above 2A.

That power brick is fine.
But do not use that USB/SATA adapter. It's a POS. It will damage drives, I've seen it happen before. I don't remember the reason why, but it's due to terrible construction.
Optical drives are not going to like non-enclosure connections to USB. I keep write this, you keep ignoring, so I guess you'll learn this the hard way. Your drives, your money, do what you want.

The enclosures do have cost, yes.
OWC may have some, was recently reminded of them.

OWC Mercury Pro
Measure your drive. Some enclosures are too short for some drives.
What matters most is the chipset of the enclosure. You have no chipset with the USB dongles that are made for HDD. But opticals need a chipset. Oxford was best, but I don't know if it's even made anymore, Asmedia is probably fine.
Enclosures were never cheap. $50 is about right. I bought 1 enclosure about 10 years ago, but no idea where it is anymore.
