Hi all,

I have just had JVC HR-S7955EK come into my possession. It seems to be working well on my initial tests but it has a strange issue. When I press the play button it usually does something else. More often than not, it will rewind rather than play but it has also paused and brought up the menu screen. To be clear, this in on the VCR itself not a remote. The remote I have seems to work just fine.

Does anybody have any experience of this or any ideas what could be causing it?

Many thanks in advance

Open the front face and inspect the PCB for corrosion or damage, check all ribbon cables make sure they are clean, undamaged and fully seated.

Many thanks for the reply. I'll pop it open and take a look when I get a chance and report back. I suspected something like that might be the issue, but wanted to be sure it wasn't something stupidly simple before I went any further

Ok, I did as suggested but found no sign of anything obvious at all so I decided to take it all apart to get to the bottom of the main board just in case there was anything there. There wasn't. So then I decided to use an air blower on the switch and the whole player. I also gave the switch some good strong taps to hopefully clear anything that might be causing the problem. I also cleaned the ribbon ends with rubbing alcohol. I then put everything back together fully expecting it not to have worked. I am pleased to say however, that it did work or something did anyway. So as long as the issue doesn't return, its problem solved

Thanks for the advice latreche34, much appreciated
