I have a Diginow Irecord personal media recorder which I use to transfer old VHS, camcorder movies etc. The unit was working fine until last week. I got a message that said CARD FULL. I assumed maybe the card got damaged so I went and bought a new memory card. Same thing. I have tried to reset the unit, but no luck. If someone can help I would appreciate it.

This types of low quality devices are not recommended here, so most likely you wouldn't find another person here with the same problem, Have a skilled repair person take a look at it, Any data recovery service can troubleshoot a problem like this.

SD cards are just so fragile, and often lose data. It's just the status quo.

This is an extremely low quality video device, and this sort of thing doesn't surprise me whatsoever. Compared to actual quality video capture cards (most of which costs the same, or less), these just an expensive toy.
