My Panasonic 1970P VCR will not turn on. Nothing will happens. No mechanical parts start moving and the screen doesn't light up either. I replaced the power supply unit from another deck and it still will not turn on. The only thing I noticed was that the red LED power button was lit so dimly I almost didn't notice it? Could it still be caps? What else aside from caps could be the issue?

Hard, to say, but I'd guess one of the rails is being shorted elsewhere or there could be an open capacitor somewhere on one of the other power supplies if you are sure the power supply you swapped in is good.

I've got an AG1970 that powers up (but is otherwise unrefurbished/untested) that I've been meaning to sell for $100 plus shipping if you want a base unit and use your others for parts. PM me if interested.

I took the PSU out of a working unit. So, I know it's good. Honestly, the original PSU for this deck might have worked too and I just never noticed the faint, red light the first time I plugged it in.

To recap those PS is the first job what should be done before other measurements. When those caps die they take with them other parts, like specific transistors, and they may be hard to find.
