Jammed Aiwa VCR head drum has white powder caked inside

Before sending an old Aiwa VCR off to be recycled I figured I'd try it one last time. Long story short but the VCR head drum was totally jammed so I opted to dismantle it and inside I found that the centre is caked with a white powder that's hard in places. Any idea what that is and how it got there?

What model is this ? i got an AKAI DX3head that's sitting there seems to have the same ribbons connection at the bottom could be compatible as far as the drum

Kind of looks like that metal oxidation that can develop on things like battery terminals. Can't say I've ever seen it on a bearing though.

Aluminum rot, possibly mold, I would just throw it away unless it is a S-VHS machine with line TBC, but I'm not aware that Aiwa VCRs ever come with TBC, I believe they are Sony rebadge, I could be wrong.
