Hello!

I have a Panasonic AG-4700 VCR and a problem with its TBC.

When I turn on the TBC switch on, the picture starts to wobble horizontally, while simultaneously changing brightness slightly both up and down. The shaking starts a few seconds after turning on the TBC switch.
When the switch is off, none of these effects are present.

All the capacitors in the TBC unit have been replaced without any effect.
Both 5V and 12V power are present on TBC unit and look clean.
There's no excessive heating of the PCB components.

Could you please tell me where the problem can be located?

I forgot to mention that receiving device was canopus ADVC 110, and seems that its analog front-end (SAA7115) is somewhat incompatible with signal produced by AG4700's TBC, or it lacks some settings to process it correctly. At least when connected to cheap EZcap USB dongle, AG4700 gives stable picture without any shaking with TBC enabled (and wavy picture edges when disabled). Also, TBC module in AG4700 was replaced with another one, which gave no effect.
A similar behaviour of HS1000+ADVC pair also was outlined on another forum.
Leave it here for other's reference.

Wouldn't be surprised if the ADVC-110 needs recapping. The two I've worked on both needed full recaps before they'd work at all. Not sure why it would play well with one machine and not others though. Never seen an NTSC source that the ADVC110 wouldn't capture other than those with macrovision protection.

Unlike AG-4700, ADVC110 hasn't much to recap... if talking about SAA7115, all caps in signal path are ceramic, and just 2 electrolytic caps are placed in power lines. Then the signal goes digital.
Again, my ADVC works well with JVC SR-S388E (both Panasonic and JVC are PAL), which makes me think it's quite functional..
It would be great to hear from those who have paired these two devices (Panasonic +ADVC)..
