Hello, can some help with this?

after an initial successful test, the VCR - JVC HR-S9600 - started automatically switching to standby a few seconds after power on, making it unusable.
The unit has not been opened or modified. I performed power resets, but the issue persists.

Thank you.

Most likely dynamic drum failure or mode switch is dirty. I refurb these if you're interested and can guarantee that you'd never have either of those faults again out of the machine if I do it. There is also a worm gear that can crack in the DD that makes the typical "gear removal only" fix not work sometimes, but I have spare parts to get around that as well. PM me if interested.

Thank you for your reply. Sorrily we are located in Europe. The device in question is currently in Italy.
Otherwise I would be really interested. What would such a repair cost - in case I find someone closer?

I'm not sure what services in Europe charge honestly. I'll have to leave that to others in Europe. The issue with shipping it across the pond is mainly that shipping costs a lot more and there's potential for either tariffs or import charges going both ways, so I don't know that I'd recommend that other than as a last resort.
