posted this in another thread but realize it should be on its own. Hope someone can help me with this.

I have an lg DR787T which I was able to make region free a few years ago. All of a sudden it is not region free anymore and the lg5000 hack does not work anymore. It will not even read the disk. just tries to identify the disk and then after about 30 seconds says "can't identify disk" Tried different disks and burning software no luck.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Now after trying to the lg5000 fix the dvd recorder takes a while to start up, it looks like it is looking for media (no media in tray). hmm.

It sounds like the player itself is either dead already or on its deathbed. Your best option at this point would be to just replace it. All players unfortunately only have around 2000 hours of life in them.
