Had some PMs, questions on this. Answering here.

I use a Western Digital external hard drive AC adapter. See attached image.
The 2.1mm tip fits, and the power specs match.
It's 12V 2A (12 volt, 2 amp), center-positive

The OEM provided supply was 12V, but amps varied (as it always does with DataVideo and Cypress TBCs). It call for 500mA (0.5 amps), but amps don't really matter that much. You can use up to 2 with no problem.

Anybody in Australia, UK, or other European countries are encouraged to post about what you're using, or what you've found.

This advice also applies to the DataVideo TBC-1000, which can also use 12V 2A center-positive AC adapters. The unit is rated for 12V 1.25A minimum, and 2A max is fine. Furthermore, the DataVideo 2.1/2.5mm tip entry is more universal, and allows power supplies from Fantom, Seagate, and many other external hard drives.

I'm just going to add that when buying adapters, NEVER cheap out and buy on price alone. The market is flooded with poor Switch Mode PSU designs, some of which are genuinely unsafe and also poorly filtered which can mess with what you plug them into.

Its harder to find good ones than you think - but brands like MeanWell are respected. The one LS referenced above is also good. If in doubt, check the UL file number - this one is current and listed here http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/t...AME/index.html so all spot-on.
