I'm having a problem with channel D (only) on my TBC-4000. When I first fire it up, it works great. However, after about 30-45 minutes of capture, I lose the chroma signal on the output...the S-Video drops to black & white. Not all at once, but gradually over a couple of minutes or so. However, I've also got a straight composite monitor wired to the monitor out jack on the -4000, and it continues to show a perfect picture. So it looks as though my problem is somewhere at the output of that channel (yes, I've tried swapping cables and capture devices).

Since it's just one channel of four I can live with it for now, especially since I don't currently have a paycheck. When things look up in the future, though, what are my options? Is there anyone good...or at least qualified...at repairing these machines? About what would it cost?

You really have to be careful when plugging/unplugging cables to VCRs, TBCs, etc. That sort of error is often tied to a loose solder joint, due to force. I'd done it myself on VCRs, in years past. Thankfully never a TBC. It's why I use extenders, as well as trash any cable that simply refuses to cooperate. I new cable is $5, and VCR/TBC/etc repair is costly, or time-consuming (if DIY).

I don't know anybody that repairs TBCs. Southern Advantage may know if anybody does.
