i think my jvc drm100 has finally packed it in and gone to jvc heaven.

but in case it hasn't, is there anything i can do?
like opening it up and cleaning the laser?

also any suggestions as what to get next?

jvc machines are hard to get in a high street store over in the UK.
so what other recorder will do?
lg?

over...

The 150 looks the same as the 100. So maybe.

What sort of problem do you have on the 100? It may need a simple bit of compressed air blown into it. Or maybe dismantle and clean it gently. It could just be that it hates whatever discs you're feeding it.

when i power on, whether it has disc or no disc, display reads "disc error" (or similar).

also could not playback dvd or finalise etc.

have opened top of recorder.
was trying to open the laser holder itself to clean the lens.
didn't have time this morning.

so how do i open the "black box" to get at the laser?
