Hi everybody.
I am using a Sony camera to play old video8 tapes in order to archive them. The videos exhibit frame skew (at moments when the camera was moving during filming) and other issues such as vertical misalignment of some frames. I have used two TVs and a capture card and they all show the same behavior at the same frames. I am not using a TBC.
What surprised me is that the video through the viewfinder looks very good compared to the one displayed on the TV/computer. What is the cause of this? Is there a way to get the camera to output this good video stream?
P.S. I also used a third TV and it showed a good quality, but I suspect that this TV applies its own DSP filters. Sadly enough, I cannot capture from this TV. I attached two examples of the videos.
My Setup:
Original Recording Camera: Sony CCD-M8E PAL (Video 8)
Playback Camera: CCD-TR512E PAL (Video 8-XR)
Capture Card: Elgato Video Capture
TV with good playback: LG 60LA6210
Thanks for your help.
