Hi,

I'm digitizing some old VHS tapes. I'm in Europe (PAL). My setup is as follows: Philips VR-1000, TBC 3000, Hauppauge USB Live 2.

I've been able to capture almost all tapes without any hassle, but i'm struggling with the last one. When I play it using the Philips VR-1000, the picture jumps up and down with both TBC ON and TBC OFF (see attachment).

I also have an old AKAI consumer grade VCR, which plays the tape quite well (picture is stable), but it doesn't have line TBC and DNR. What could be the reason of this problem and what options do I have to proceed?

1. Repair or tweak the VR-1000 somehow, so it would play the tape better?
2. Capture using consumer grade VCR and run the signal through Panasonic ES10/ES15, then to TBC 3000?
3. Re-record the tape using VR-1000 and then capture?
4. Get another S-VHS VCR? Perhaps Panasonic one?
5. Something else?

Any help you could provide would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Tom from Czech republic
