I'm sort of working on decoding the JVC series of DVD recorder hard drives.

Across several SR and DR models I have noticed the MPEG video appears to be in the same MPEG2 format, but stored in what looked like a different MPEG2 Profile format.

I'm not an MPEG expert.

The end result is when they play on Windows Media Player or VLC, strips of video within a frame are rendered crisp and clear, but then interlaced with strips of gray or gray inverted video.

I have seen this so much across so any models I'm confident its either an alternative or custom profile, it always looks the same.

Its a fringe subject so I won't get frustrated if no one has a clue.

I was just hoping to figure it out so we could add some JVC DVD and Blueray recorders to the Isobuster list of supported dvd recorders for video extraction.

Happy holidays.

DVD-Video must be MP@ML profile. It can't be anything else, profile-wise.
