My ATI 600 usb had been plugging along for years with Windows 10... then I took a year off because... pandemic. Now I'm back doing some captures, and the ATI 600 capture is very jittery, with random pauses, jerks and has some lower thirds flashing and ghosting. I'm not sure if the chip died or if this is a driver issue. The tapes look fine on TV. I've tried using CCcleaner and reinstalling, but the problem persists. Anyone else have this problem recently? I'm dreading going through a year of updates to find the culprit...
Oh, just remembered, I also went from an AMD 4850 to an Nvidia GTX 1080, so that might be an issue too. Whee.

Both are issues.

Win10 updates nuke cards all the time, especially in 2019 and 2020. It will only get worse. Win10 is a horrible OS for capturing video.

When cards do get nuked, a common theme is Nvidia cards. Somethnig about the graphics drivers sucks. I've never liked Nvidia, not in 20 years, and my verdict on them (sucks) is continually renewed. Once upon a time, you could instruct Nvidia cards to fallback to onboard (CPU's GPU) graphics, but it was mostly for brightness type issues, and Nvidia was seemingly removed a lot of those options now (based on reports from others, assuming it's not mere user/PEBKAC errors there).
