My PC:
Intel i7 7700K
16gb RAM
1TB HDD

I just got a Pinnacle 510 from LordSmurf and I'm about to set up my computer as a dedicated capture machine.

I have an spare 1TB HDD that I'm going to install the OS on. I heard Pinnacle works fine on Windows 10, but I also want a machine that won't give me problems when using VirtualDub or AviSynth. Should I install Windows 7 or Windows XP? And which service pack? 32-bit or 64-bit? Thanks

Windows 7 has more driver database than XP since it came out few years later and added a lot of new drivers.

Driver age doesn't really matter here. It just needs to work.

WinXP and Win7 both work well, and with VirtualDub 1.9.x

Win7 needs the Crossbar Thing step, to swap from composite to s-video, before opening VirtualDub.
