Please see the attached image. I can't work out what the problem is to give me this problem when capturing. The image looks perfect on the tv.

I am using a diamond vc500. I have tried sub 2.0 and 3.0 ports. I have changed from directshow to micrsoft wdm. Virtual dub version 1.10.4. Windows 11. Had the same issue on 10. Capturing pal 25. Any other info need please let me know. Using a AWA 6 head hifi system pal. W800S. everything is connected to the same power adapter.

Post a short clip, I can't make out what's going on from a tiny square of image, They look like dot crawl pattern but not sure.

Suspecting it's just the VC500 not handling video directly from a VCR well, looks a bit like the distortion you get when it struggles, would be easier to see with a full frame though. Solutions depending on budget varies from existing vcr with output passed through specific dvd-recorders up to a full setup with SVHS deck + TBC, as has been covered a lot here.
