The Panasonic ES-15 turns off after six hours by default. This is a problem if capturing overnight an EP tape. I finally checked the manual and found the answer.

To turn off that sleep feature:
  • Press SETUP on remote
  • Go to SETUP tab
  • Go to OFF TIMER
  • Change setting to OFF

Keywords to help you find this:
sleep mode, goes to sleep, turns off automatically, shuts down automatically, 6 hours, six hours
